Pages suddenly using 80 gb application memory

I was using Pages (version 14.3) today when a Force Quit Applications window suddenly popped up showing that Pages is using over 80 Gb of application memory. I had to force quit the application. There were only 2 documents open, and both had very minimal images in them. The documents themselves are only 455 kb and 66 kb.

I closed out of everything, cleared out 3 Gb of junk files in the system, and reopened the same 2 documents in Pages. This time, I opened Activity Monitor and it showed that Pages was using 200+ Mb of application memory which is acceptable. I continued working on the documents in Pages. 5 minutes later, the same Force Quit Applications popped up, and Pages is now using 80 Gb of application memory. I checked Activity Monitor and it confirmed this same number.

This is the first day that this has happened. I've been an avid user of Pages without any issues. This is clearly a bug because there should be no reason why it's using so much ram.

Can someone tell me what's wrong and how I can fix this?

Thank you!
