Photos Blur Not Remove

New photos clean up feature that is supposed blur or remove images in 15.2 keeps blurring the parts I want to remove. There is no way to stop this. What is going on here?

I am having the same issue. I contacted Apple Support last night and they advised I wipe and reinstall the OS on my phone, which I am not going to.

I had been using "Clean Up" to REMOVE people from the background of photos. Now clean up is just blurring people in the background. It's incredibly frustrating. Ive dug all through the settings on my MacBook, iPad, and iPhone and do not see a toggle or option to remove the "Safety Filter".

This is a HUGE disappointment if this is truly intended. I am not a professional photographer. But this feature alone allowed me to cancel my Adobe subscription and revert back to using photos for my photography needs.

Photos will blur instead of removing, if it recognizes a face. TDon't use the tool on faces, unless you want to blur them, so the person cannot be recognized, when you share a photo.

Remove distractions and imperfections from your photos on Mac - Apple Support

"Note: If you brush over a person’s face, the face may be blurred with a pixelated effect."

Let me introduce you to my great aunt and uncle

Being dead and all, they won't mind my using their faces.

Unfortunately, Uncle Orville has a spot on his forehead. It's a very old picture.

I used Clean Up to fix him up.

So Clean Up works fine for removing blemishes. You just don't do it to the whole face, unless you want blurring.

Not using it on the face, although that’s also disappointing that the feature does not remove blemishes either like the touchup feature before. Should be able to choose between blurring and removing, not having it decide for you
