How do I move files into folders without copying on iCloud

I'm trying to move files and videos into folders on my desktop, but i keep having to move them to trash because it just copies the files instead of moving them. I am simply dragging, not holding option or anything, and i looked into permissions and it is on my icloud only, not everyone. How do i fix this?

I'm confused. I can just drag a file from one folder to another folder or from the Desktop to a folder or the reverse without holding the command key. As long as it's on the same drive.

You move files from one folder location to another in macOS holding the cmd key while dragging. Forget about copying or cutting to the clipboard and then pasting. If you change your mind immediately after the move, you can press cmd+Z to undo that operation and the file will reappear in the source folder.
