Airport making noise and disconnecting, not overheating
Airport going in and out, making a noise. All I've found says it may be overheating, but it's not warm at all.

Apple stopped making it's last wireless access points circa 2016 - if you can't even remember buying it, then it is probably 10+ years old (and wifi technology generally as well as wifi security have improved a lot).
Depending on the type of housing you have and its size, as well as what sort of Internet speeds you get from your ISP, there are plenty of good brands that will serve you well - including a number of brands offering mesh networks that cover your entire home.
