Unable to pair Eve Energy (AU/NZ) with HomeKit after brief succesful pair then reset

I successfully paired my Eve Camera and later my Eve Energy (AU/NZ) to my Homekit.

Product 10ECF6051

Model 20ECF6001

Part 51ECF6052

Purchased through Apple Online Store early 2025.

I'm attempting to pair with Home on my iPhone 12. I am just about to update from iOS 18?? to 18.2.1 i just discovered.

I tested Eve Energy for several days.

Now the Eve Energy no longer turns on and off.

Troubleshooting

I have reset the Eve Energy as per the Eve Energy instructions. Namely, press the reset/power on/off button for five seconds until it flashes red for 5 seconds. No success. After several minutes Apple Home says' Unable to pair'.

I tried more complex reset attempts. eg

  1. Reset the Eve device
  2. Unplug the Eve device
  3. Turn off and restart the iPhone
  4. Attempt to repair again.

After several minutes Apple Home says' Unable to pair'

I also tried pairing in the Eve app. No success.

I confirm that in the Homekit > Settings app various Homekit devices (AppleTV, lightbulbs, Homepod) are listed. But the Eve Energy app is no longer present.

My wifi router is

Orbi Hardware version RBR350

Firmware V4.20.0.4_3.100.71

(other details available )

Can’t pair Matter accessories to Apple Ho… - Apple Community

I have read other Apple Community discussions that are now closed. For example, that link above suggests I should

  1. Shutdown the 5 GHZ wifi network until the Eve Energy has successfully paired on the 2.5 GHZ wifi. Response - I cannot see how to do that using the Orbi app or the device.
  2. Create a new AppleID specifically to operate the Homekit. - Surprizing!
  3. Have my wife, who shares the Home, pair the Eve Energy device. - I'll try that.

What concerns me is that the Eve Energy device dropped connection in the first place. I don't want to be repairing every now and then!

Help please.

Eve Energy and Eve Weather pairing resolved

I also had an identical pairing failure problem with an Eve Weather device. It would not pair 'out of the box'.

I did all these things, some of which were suggested at Eve Support

  1. Power off ONT
  2. Unplug wifi router
  3. Power OFF Eve Security
  4. Power off AppleTV by unplugging
  5. Power off Apple iPhone
  6. Turned everything back on again
  7. Attempted to pair the two devices using 'Other options'.... connect to nearby device. Use Camera to read QR code on the device.
  8. Brought the Minipod into close proximity to the Eve Energy and Eve Weather and iPhone
  9. Repeated pairing several x several times, selecting 'connect to nearby device'
  10. During a pairing attempt, the iPhone was placed ON TOP of the Eve device. This pairing was eventually successful.

In summary,

I suspect the crucial TO DO steps are

  1. Bring the Minipod into close proximity to the Eve Energy and Eve Weather and iPhone
  2. Wait patiently for the Minipod to connect with Homekit. eg Test by attempting to stream music from. your iPhone
  3. Repeat pairing from the iPhone Homekit app several x several times, selecting 'connect to nearby device'
  4. During my LAST pairing attempt, the iPhone was placed ON TOP of the Eve device. This pairing approach was promptly successful, for both devices.

Subsequently, I noticed that if I turned OFF the Minipod, the Eve Energy became disconnected. I was somewhat surprised that the Eve devices needed the Minipod to be powered on. I understood the AppleTV was the hub for the Homekit and Eve devices. When I turned the Minipod ON again, everything reconnected.

About thread networks

On the Eve iOS app there is a setting 'Thread Network'. At the start of this drama there was nothing listed, the setting just hung.

Now with all Eve devices paired Thread Network shows

  1. {location 1} Eve Energy - Router (via Route Router 44)
  2. {Location Entrance} Eve Weather Endpoint (via Route Router 44)
  3. Unknown room -
  • Endpoint DC-4 - Relayed via Eve Energy {location 1}
  • Router 44 - 44

I've no idea what or where Router 44 is! Maybe it's the Eve Security or the Minipod. However, I don't see the Eve Security as part of my Thread network... the last remaining mystery
