Put Quicktime in the dock
I understand that Apple has made QuickTime available through iCloud, however, it would be nice to be able to place access to QuickTime in the dock. This is legacy software still used by many people.

You are only viewing a folder in iCloud called QuickTime Player. Go to your Applications folder and sort by name to see the files alphabetically and you should find it there. Drag that one to the Dock. For me it is in the Applications folder, but as jeffreythefrog mentioned, check your Utilities folder.
When you open Quicktime from your Applications folder you are presented with the screen to open a movie file. In the last screenshot you provided, it shows you looking in the Applications folder where they are all greyed out because none of those are movie files that can be opened. You can navigate to a different folder in that screen to open a movie file or create a new one by clicking the cancel button and choosing the option in the menu bar like you will see here.
By the way, I am on Sequoia 15.2 as well.
I have Sequoia, OS 15.2. Apple only allows my Macbook Pro to access QuickTime ver. 10 through iCloud and it is not downloaded into my Applications folder. This is my understanding. I could put the icon into the dock, but when I click on it, this is what I see. The button to "Open" is greyed out and not available.
yes, sorry. I should have mentioned that sometimes you will find QTP in the "utilities" folder found in your applications folder.
so you can open the utilities folder and drag QTP from there and drop it on your dock.
and FWIW I use ver. 10 on sequoia as well and have no issue adding QTP to the dock. no iCloud in use.
ok. now I see what you are doing. please see Mac Jim ID's reply. you are looking at your iCloud folder. instead, choose "applications" in your finder sidebar to open your applications.

My laptop is a bit messed up. I bought received this one week ago from a vendor on eBay and am returning it. The right [SHIFT] key was not making capital letters for all letters. I popped off the right [SHIFT] key cap, cleaned the pressure switch which fixed this issue.
Then yesterday, the laptop would stop charging and would start charging again after a minute. I tried two different USB-C cables, and two different chargers, charged on each of the four USB ports, and the same thing happened every time.
Here is a screenshot of what happens clicking on the QT icon in the Applications folder, and then making sure I have selected "Applications" on the window that pops up. I appreciate all of your comments and help.
Drag the QuickTime Player that you see in that Applications folder where all you other apps are listed to the dock.
No problem! And Merry Christmas to you as well.
Okay, I am officially an idiot. Selecting the folder where I have the videos works fine.
However, due to the other issues I have been experiencing, which I believe are real defects, I will be returning the laptop to the eBay seller. Thank you and Merry Christmas, Mac Jim ID.
if you want QuickTime Player on your dock, then first find it in your Applications folder.
and then drag it from there and drop it onto your dock.
I'd be interested in what OS jefferythefrog and Mac Jim ID are running. View the screenshot that describes what happens when I click on the QT icon in my Applications Folder.

BTW,
You can also see that QT is not in the Utilities Folder, where it was accessible years ago. I do have access to QT, but I thought it would be nice to have it available as a link in the Dock.
