Mail practically unusable after 18.2 - is it possible to revert update?

I suffer the frustration of users who don’t bother to read update notes, even when a link to them is right on the update page, yet knowing that it is a major update that will reflect many changes→What’s new in iOS 18 - Apple Support

As explained innumerable times in the thread you just added to:

To remove the icons in the list view:

• Open Settings
• Tap Apps
• Tap Mail
• Turn off Show Contact Photos
• Optionally, turn off Summarize Message Previews

To turn off Categories:

• Open the Mail app
• Tap on an inbox
• Tap on ⋯⃝ in the upper right 
• Tap to check List View

These 2 steps will return the Mail app to the way it previously worked.

As you didn’t bother to read the thread you posted to, let me summarize it for you: To disable the new features that were added because the competition have them (gmail, yahoo, AOL, etc):

To remove the icons in the list view:

A revert or an option to keep prior. Why not whats more bloat, you seem to add all this useless changes. Who did you “focus group” with these changes? Def-not actual users

SO BIG takes 3-4 lines

Apple needs to fix the mail app now. I am missing opportunities for interviews because I am not getting my emails since this nightmare update. Who asked for this anyway? No one.

I’m job-hunting and missed interview e-mails and didn’t realise it was because of the new horrible view.

So go back to the list view. Tap the three dots in the upper right of the screen and make the change.
