iTunes won't sync with old or new iPod

Itunes won't sync with my old or new ipod. I've tried several different solutions but none have worked. It's not my cable, and i've downloaded and uninstalled itunes many times. I've followed youtube videos to troubleshoot as well. Please help.

We need to establish how you're trying to synchronise and what happens when you try. In order to do that, let's ask some questions:

    1. have you previously synchronised either of these iPods with this iTunes Library? In this context, your iTunes Library means on the same computer and without any repairs to the computer
    2. Are you using Apple Music (the subscription service)?
    3. do you have any of the following apps installed on your computer:
      1. Apple Music (the app, not the subscription)
      2. Apple TV
      3. Apple Devices
    4. do either of the iPods appear in your iTunes window, just below the menu option Account?
    5. if you select the iPod icon, it shows the iPod's Settings/Summary pane. Can you see that?
    6. if the Summary pane is displayed, click on the Settings/Music pane (1. in the screenshot below)
    7. using the screenshot below as your guide, is Sync Music (2.) ticked (checked)?
    8. which option in 3. is selected? (You may not see any of the sections numbered 4.

Now it seems iTunes only shows Audiobooks or Podcasts.

That suggests that you have signed up for Apple Music (the subscription service, not the app). If you want to use your own library, end the subscription to Apple Music.

I have tried the Apple Music app but do not see iPod.

The Apple Music app is not yet fully ready to take over from iTunes. Uninstall Apple Music (the app) as well as Apple TV and Apple Devices.

Where do I sync the iPod now? I have always used iTunes and the iPod Classic is shown and I press sync. Now it seems iTunes only shows Audiobooks or Podcasts.

I have tried Apple Devices but none of my devices show on there. I have tried the Apple Music app but do not see iPod. I used to be able to back up all my devices to my computer (Windows 11) but cannot find how to do that now. Apple Music shows all my music but there is nowhere to backup my iPhone or iPad.

I'm totally lost since iTunes changed! Please help.
