It seems only certain types of emails have the “clear” option. This one is a security code email. Just wondering what the difference is between clear and trash?
This is not part of Apple Intelligence. It's an update to the mail program in iOS 18. Apple has stated that it will roll out to iPad OS and MacOS in the future.
I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and my wife has an iPhone 12 mini, neither can run Apple Intelligence, but we both have the updated mail app with categories. My M-series iPad, M-series desktop and M-series laptop are all Apple Intelligence capable, but none of them have the updated mail features.
Unfamiliar with that option.
Please post a screenshot, with the “Clear” shown:

It’s a new “Categories” feature you can turn off by clicking on the … and select list. Then you’ll see the normal old list that of all emails.
Thanks for responding. When I went to take a screenshot the clear option had disappeared 😃. So ghost in the machine maybe.
Confused
Thanks for this!
I found this video to be helpful. When selecting “clear” it removes the email from that category, but it can still show up in the all mail tab.
What is the difference between clear and trash and where does Claire go? I have an iPhone 14 and I use Gmail.
