Mail Notifications Broken on iOS 18.2?

Is anyone else having issues with Mail notifications on iOS 18.2? I'm only getting notification badges—no banners or notifications on the lock screen. I've double-checked my settings and even disabled notification categories, but still no luck. Screenshots of my settings are included. Any ideas?

Go to settings-notifications-mail-customize notifications and change under badge count to all unread messages. After this, you should get the notification badge.

Yes, it now wakes the phone to notify me with the email. Prior to enabling Remind Me and Primary Inbox, I would only hear a sound (I do not have haptics enabled)--but that isn't acceptable if you're away from the phone. Now, with a simple tap, I can see the email on the screen (like Messages) without having to unlock the phone.

I should have said "The solution appears to be turning on 'Remind Me' and 'Primary Inbox.' Once turned on, Mail Notifications now wake up the screen when it's 'asleep' to display the Mail message (along with the sound). Thanks to Gregor191."

I have just found a workaround for the issue where even after the notifications remedies are applied, the badge count is still wrong.
I have gone into each inbox (I am running several accounts), selected the "..." menu (top right corner), and selected "List View" instead of the stupid gmail-style categories. This "removes" the weird categories without having to downgrade, and has resolved my problem of incorrect badges to unread emails.
While i have had to do this for each account, this solution works for me (noting I don't love the categories, so i have basically turned them off)

This was mentioned in the 2nd reply of this thread 🙄

Everyone with the iOS 18 is having problems with their email notification sounds Apple doesn’t seem to care there’s been thousands and thousands of complaints updates aren’t fixing the issue in the long run apples not what it used to be. May go back to android frustrating after now spending all this money on an iPhone 16 Pro Max

You are correct I haven’t seen or heard notifications, like you I have wasted so much time trying to solve this. I give up at this point. One thing I did notice is in messages if you have favorites contacts pin to the top I unpin them and I now get notifications from them.

 should be embarrassed to have this crap going on I would think the beta testers would have noticed this if they hadn’t maybe they should try a little harder.

For me, the issue with missing badges was actually due to 'Do Not Disturb' mode, which hides all badges. Once I turned it off, they reappeared. Interestingly, signing into my iCloud account seems to make the iPad remember the DND settings, while signing out resets them and turns off DND. This made it seem like iCloud was causing the issue, but in reality, it was just DND.

Saw this online :

Following the iOS 18.2.1 update, many users are reporting email glitches on their iPhones, including issues like emails not loading properly, incorrect categorization of messages, missing emails, problems sending or receiving mail and not getting notifications (badges & sounds) likely due to bugs introduced in the new Mail app features within the update; if you're experiencing email issues after updating, check your account settings, try restarting your phone, and if the problem persists, consider contacting Apple.

I’ve done all of the above and STILL no fix. It’s been months..

GREAT JOB APPLE! 👏👏👏

ios 18.3.1 no mail notifications for my dad’s phone… he is 91 I tried everything… but move to an android phone. Incredible that after an update I should spend hours trying to solve a problem that should not be there. Terrible interface design, feature focused without regard for usability.
