iPod Nano won't sync and accept new music

I know it's old, but it's the way I like to listen to my music at the gym. I like the corded option and the little screen that lets me scroll… Heading back to the gym, hooking up my iPod to make some new playlists and it won't work. I can't add new music.

If this is a defunct option, what is the option to use some thing that has a cord to the headphones? I don't want to use my phone, nor a watch and I don't want to use cordless headphones... they give me a headache.

Has old school gone completely by the wayside?

If you have a Mac, then you need to identify which operating system (OS) it's using, i.e. is it OS Mojave (10:14) or earlier, or is it OS Catalina (10:15) or later?

    • if your machine is using OS Mojave or earlier, then you use iTunes to manage your iPod
    • if your machine is using OS Catalina or later, then you use Finder to manage the iPod as iTunes is no longer used on the later operating systems

If you are using Finder, see this Apple article: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your Mac – Apple Support (UK)
