iCloud Photos version sync

Hey all,

I am facing a problem with photos and iCloud synchronisation. I deleted some photos from Google photos and the same photos were deleted from (Apple) photos library. (It is what it is…). Then iCloud got synchronised in a version without the deleted photos. So right now the last version of my iCloud is missing those photos.

Luckily, I am using a Time Machine and I managed to recover the photo library on my Mac! However, in the bottom panel of photos (on Mac) says that last synchronisation took place the date from which I restored the data. So whenever I synchronise, the iCloud is updating to the last available version which is the one with the lost photos.

how can I synchronise my iCloud to the version from Time Machine that has my photos?

Do you now have two Libraries? The older one and the new one? Are they both in the Pictures folder? If that's true, then you will need to tell Photos which one is the "System Library." Double click on the new Library to open it in Photos. Then go to Photos' Settings>General, and choose "Use as System Photo Library."

Mine is grayed out because it already is the System Library.

Then go to Settings>iCloud and

turn on iCloud. If your Mac has room, use Download Originals. If you're tight for space, you can pick Optimize.

You can have only one System Library, and it's the only one that can be connected to iCloud. You can use other Libraries--double click on the one you want to work with. But only the System Library can sync to iCloud. Synchronize means having all the pictures in the local Library exactly the same as at iCloud.com.
