Recently updated to IOS 18. My hidden photo folder is gone, as are the photos that were in it. Not crazy about the update. All the new customizations only made everything more difficult. I have to search this site to figure out how to fix everything now. It’s incredibly irritating

Have you looked in "Settings>Apps>Photos>Show Hidden Album" to see if that's turned on?
With Customize, Utilities can actually be hidden:
And Hidden can be turned on in Pinned:
Unsurprisingly, people used to complain that Apple set stuff up one way, and they couldn't change things. Now that menus can be customized, people complain that they can't find stuff! It's a bit tougher to troubleshoot, as well, since everybody's screens are not the same.
