block blast age restriction

why is block blast 17+? i’ve played it on my friends phones and it’s all good. the only thing that could be bad is the ads but the only thing that could rlly be bad in them would be the homescapes games where they show poor people. please fix it, it is perfectly fine for children. my cousins play block blast and they are 4 and they are completely fine. please fix it!!!

I also would like to get the restriction changed. My daughter plays it and I’m having issues with the restrictions because this is 17+ she’s 12 and so I constantly have to go back-and-forth turning off and on restrictions because it helps her with her anxiety. There’s no point in me having restrictions if she can’t play this game.

The developer does make that decision when submitting their app and if they don't want to rate their app at 17+, they can certainly make the changes if they wish. You can certainly change the Age Restriction to allow your daughter to use apps for a higher age rating. These are the elements where you will see a 17+ rating:

  • Unrestricted web access, such as with an embedded browser
  • Gambling
  • Frequent or intense simulated gambling
  • Frequent or intense mature or suggestive content
  • Frequent or intense medical or treatment-focused content
  • Frequent or intense references to alcohol, tobacco, or drug use
  • Frequent or intense sexual content or nudity
  • Frequent or intense realistic violence

I would recommend contacting the developer. Many times the developers are paid top dollar to show ads that are intended for the 17+ demographic and includes these elements. That demographic is more likely to spend money from the ads that are viewed. They may make more money with that business model than providing a clean app. In any case it is their decision.

I think it is useless because I am not able to download it on my phone, but when I play on my tablet it lets me download it and is not rated 17+. this game helps me relax and block blast is not the type of game that is inappropriate. please change this!!

Yes it is rated 17+. That is done by the developer of the App. Only the developer can change that as it is set when they upload the app to Apple, so have you asked them why they are targeting their app to users over the age of 17?

Apple does not rate the apps. The app developers pick the rating they want. It’s possible the developers have ads that are age restricted. It’s not always the app itself that is the issue. While the developer may not currently have restricted material, they may be planning for future updates.

Contact the developer, via the link in the Apple App Store.

Hello~ We are fellow forum members like yourself…not Apple nor in any way connected to that app developer… so begging for changes here will do absolutely no good. This sounds like a discussion that you and your Mom need to have. Plus depending on where you are located and how old you are you… may not need to be posting here in these forums. You may need parental permission to be posting here.

Katana-San is correct. Apple does not set the age restrictions on the apps, that is done by the developer of the app and is their choice what market they want to target. There is simply nothing Apple can do. I suspect the developer has their own reasons, but of course would not want to speculate on those motivations here.

The start of getting it changed is to voice your experience to Apple and to the developer.

Here are the questions that the developer answers when they submit the app that determines the age rating. For example, when submitting the app if there is no objectionable content, the developer simply checks that box and the rating will be 4+.

Age ratings - Reference - App Store Connect - Help - Apple Developer

The only way Apple would require a developer to change their age rating would be if a user reported content that was not disclosed and in that case the developer would be instructed to either remove the objectionable content or update the age rating. The content also includes the ads that the developer chooses to run as you would not want a children's game to display ads that have objectionable content. Again, it is only the developer of the app that has any control over the content displayed to the user and how they answer the questions to determine the age rating.
