Group chats say I’m removing people but I’m not

am in a friends group chat about Friendsgiving . I today I was at a work holiday party and I checked the chat and it said I had removed like 8 people and added someone else (which I did not do). I asked my friend who is hosting to re-add the people I supposedly removed. When I went back to check, it said I had removed people once again. So I texted her I’m sorry and removed myself from the chat. I just got the iPhone 16 pro max. Please help me because I don’t understand why this is happening.
