Why does login say "Your Password is needed to enable Touch ID" when Touch ID is already enabled?

This an attempt to reply to a recent query by rbpeirce with the same title.


If you have enabled Touch ID, but your Mac is requiring your password more often than you'd like, try this:


In Sequoia > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Advanced... try disabling, "Log out automatically after inactivity"
