Apple Maps - No way to save a planned trip with multiple stops?

I'm either stupid or disappointed. One or the other.

In Apple Maps, I can plot an entire trip, but I don't see any way to save that trip and recall it later, (or send the entire saved trip to my iPhone).

I understand that I can find my locations in Recents, Favorites, guides, etc. finding the locations isn't the question. Saving and naming a trip with multiple stops, should be Maps 101. I need to save SEVERAL lengthy trips that I will need to repeat months later... no reason in the world why I should have to re-plot my trip manually.
