iPhone 16 Pro Max isn't just slow running iOS18.x

I didn't notice the lag in basic apps like SMS and camera until iOS18.1 dropped in.

Now it's woefully slow, at any function, and the camera crashes. Repeatedly..

I'm not a fanboi - and only upgrade when something breaks/falls off support pipeline. Typically 5 versions apart. This is after an 11 - and it's such a dog I'm tempted to use wife's 11 instead. Just works.

Prime money for a very flakey user experience.

I miss Steve. He cared. About the detail.

Yup. Seems to make a difference.

The camera starts, which is encouraging!

Dunno what they got wrong, but it shatters your confidence when such flakey software ships. I'm sure they'll iron most of it out, unless it's hardware, which doesn't bare thinking about.

We pay the hefty premium for all that QC/attention to what's *not* in there - like every other google product. That Pixel. Oh my. Where to start?

Have you tried updating to iOS 18.1.1 that was released only 3 days ago? It contains bug fixes and security updates.
