Unable to AirPlay a home video/slide show to AirPlay compatible TV

I've created slide shows through the Photos app on my Mac and include customized music from my iTunes library. They appear as "home videos" on the TV app. I have tried to use AirPlay to cast them to smart televisions that seem to be compatible to AirPlay but I always get a message that they are in a format that isn't compatible. Is it the television or am I doing something wrong in some way?
