I have downloaded ALL iCloud photos on my mac photos. Then tried to export all photos to free space. I have 59,260 photos but each time I try it gives me a different amount. The latest try it gave me 58,100. I am sure all photos are downloaded and not on iCloud. I changed the hard drive to APFS. It doesn't say error when completing, it says it finished but it's not. I don't know what's downloaded and what's not. Any help?
Try to devide into much smaller and smaller groups, until you can see, which items are left out. Photos may stop the export, when it encounters the first item it cannot write. When you can identify the problematic item and remove it, the export may be more successful.
FWIW Photos counts a Live Photo pair as 1 photo.
If you use "Export originals" you get two files: 1 photo and 1 movie.
If you use "Export photos" you get 1 photo.
It helps to export in smaller batches.
You may want to create smart albums with a rule "Date is in the range". Set the date range to one year at a time, then select all photos in the album with ⌘A together and check the number of photos.
I tried, export 4k but it says 3,800. It actually loses more when I divide them
And try if restarting your Mac will help, if you have not done so recently. perhaps another app is hogging all the available RAM, and Photos will stop the export for want of free memory.
Mac doesn't export the same amount of photos I have.
