IOS 18 and CarPlay
My issues with my iPhone 15 Pro and CarPlay began after I updated to iOS 18. I have a 2020 Honda CRV. My car no longer recognized my phone (my cord was still charging my phone). After going through all the settings on my phone and car, I finally took my car to my Honda dealership. A manager and I sat in the car and tried resetting the Infotainment system, using a different cord, etc. Nothing worked. I then called and spoke to Apple and went through different settings. Again, nothing worked. The Apple representative suggested I take the car back to Honda and ask them to update the stereo firmware. Back to Honda and sat with another manager who could not fix it - suggested that my car might be too old?!?! He suggested I call Honda headquarters for assistance. Same suggestions - no change. I took my car back to Honda today and had a tech go through the computer system in the car. No change.
In all these cases, other iPhones were plugged in and worked fine …. but none were updated to iOS 18. (My husband has an iPhone 15, updated to iOS 18, and did not work in my car.)
As I waited for my car to be returned, I found a lot of possible solutions in the forum and I found what changed it for me - TURNED OFF MY VPN.
Apple - please fix this ASAP. This has never been an issue before and I want to run my VPN.
