why is FindMy showing random location 10 miles away?

Checking to see my son got to school ok in snow this morning and FindMy is showing a precise location (not just the approximation circle) in a town 10 miles away. His AirTag shows he is at school however. My husband’s phone also showing weird location for him. We’ve restarted devices and everything else is up to date.
