2023 MacBook Air-Photo app stuck on shared albums. Want Library to access 2024 pictures

2023 MacBook Air, trying to start making photo calendars (like I do every year) using the Walgreens photo program. Walgreens offered a new option to get photos from iPhone instead of computer, which I tried. It took forever & nothing ever uploaded. Since then I cannot get iPhoto to change out of "shared album". I have turned computer off & on, have checked that internet is working (it is). Pictures are still on my iPhone, but I prefer to make the calendars for my family on my MacBook Air. (I'm 82 & my eyes do better on a larger screen than the iPhone.) Would appreciate any suggestions/help. Thanks.
