When will Apple enable FLAC file support for its users?

It feels unnecessary and frustrating to exclude a whole community of audiophiles simply by choice. As a lifelong Mac user with over 2TB of FLAC files, it’s disheartening not to be able to fully enjoy my collection on iTunes / Apple Music. I don’t understand the rationale behind forcing users to rely on third-party software. It seems like an avoidable obstacle that doesn’t benefit anyone.

Playing .flac Files on a Mac:

A. On Apple Music:

Playing .flac files is not and option for Apple Music. However, you can convert the .flac file to a format Apple Music can handle (i.e. .mp3 and .alax).

B. Try Another Player:

Another option may be to try another player, perhaps QuickTime Player. See here: Download QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 - Apple Support

C. Reconned this to Apple:

Do your Part: Inform Apple of your feedback. Apple wont get back to you directly, but the more feedback thy receive from its users, the more likely they will know what needs to be fixed. Apple will know nothing of your ideas, if you don't report them to them.

Go Here: Feedback - macOS - Apple
Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
Select: "Application/Utilities" for the "Feedback Area"
Comment: that you want this to be an option, and why. Include the URL of this thread.
Proceed from there as necessary.
