Magnetic connector iPad pro

I just ordered a new iPad that has a magnetic connector. Is this the same as the magsafe on my phone? (The big circle on the back)

No model of iPad has ever supported inductive charging (sometimes known as MagSafe) .


However, many models of iPad (such as the iPad Pro M4, iPad Air M2, iPad mini A17 Pro - and selected earlier models of iPad) support inductive charging of a compatible Apple Pencil - the magnetic charging dock being located on the edge of the iPad chassis.

As for Apple Pencil, ensure that you order the correct Pencil for your iPad - as they are not interchangeable. The iPad Pro M4 supports only the Apple Pencil Pro and low-cost USB-C Pencil. Here is Apple's definitive compatibility list for Apple Pencil and iPad:
