Trying to connect my new ipad to Apple Devices on my PC so that I can restore some files from my old ipad. I am connected to the PC because the ipad is charging, but Apple Devices isn't connecting to it. This app connect to my old ipad and my phone just fine but not to my new ipad. Any suggestions?

If you have a recent model iPad, instead of using iTunes for Windows PC, you may need to use the new Apple Device App - this App only available for Windows 10/11.

If your iPad isn’t recognised when connected, try using a different USB port; if your computer has both USB-C and USB Type-A ports, try a Type-A port. Otherwise, this support page should help with troubleshooting connection difficulties:

Do you get an error message? Are you perhaps using a charge-only cable, rather than a charge/data cable? The cable that comes with the iPad is a charge/data cable.
You’re welcome. All Apple cables are Charge/Data, but some cheap knockoffs are not. Apple also makes a high bandwidth Thunderbolt 4 USB-C to USB-C cable that sells for $130. You don’t need this unless you need to transfer gigabytes of data in seconds, but if you do the cable is available.
Yep, that was it!! I was using a charge cable not a charge/data cable. Who knew! I thought that all cables were charge/data! Why have a charge only cable?
