Unable to use my iPhone as a remote for Apple TV

I have a Iphone 13 Pro, with the latest update. The AppleTV is A1625, also with the latest update.

After I updated the software to 18.0, I have been unable to use my phone as a remote. My girlfriend still can use hers.

Tried connecting to her parents AppleTV when we were visiting, and no problem. At home, I still can’t use my phone, but for some reason I CAN use my apple watch series 7.

I have tried googling, reddit posts, restarting AppleTV, restarting router, changing network, restarting phone, but nothing works. Any ideas?

When at home, verify that both devices connect to the same home network. Some routers may be configured to have multiple SSID network names in use. Network segments with different names essentially creates separate networks where devices on one segment can’t communicate with devices on the other segment. Could that be it?
