how can I sent photos as attachment rather than embedded in the email?

I have brought a question in the forum from the past into a new thread.

Some have said they tried the various things suggested in the old thread, some were successful, others not.

None worked for me with respect to having Mail not fool around with all photos and not leaving them as full attachments with meta data and everything included as was intended to be sent.

I ended up having to use Thunderbird or Outlook on my Mac or put the photos into folder and zip it if I wanted to send proper image files.

Very disappointing.

Turn on Mail Drop for large attachments

You can use Mail Drop to upload large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted. Recipients see an attachment or a Mail Drop link in the email, and they can download the files for up to 30 days after they’re sent. See the Apple Support article Mail Drop limits.

  1. Go to icloud.com/mail, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
  2. Click  at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Settings.
  3. Click Composing, then select “Use Mail Drop when sending large attachments.”
