Can I send an email from Outlook Alias email address when I'm using Mac Mail?

At work I have a Microsoft Exchange account that I access using Mac Mail. Everything has worked perfectly for years. However from within our exchange account we recently added an alias email address. Using Mac Mail I receive emails sent to this address just fine. However I am unable to send an email from the alias address. My I.T. person says if I switch to using Outlook for Mac I would also be able to send emails from the alias address.

I'd prefer not to start using Outlook. Is there a way I can configure Mac Mail to send an email from the Exchange Alias address?
