High volume or nothing sounds

I have a MacBook M2 Pro, and when I connect my AirPods 3, the volume control behaves strangely. Using the Touch Bar or sound settings, the volume either jumps straight to 100% or drops to 0%, with no middle level. I tried reinstalling the operating system, updated to the latest version, and reset the Bluetooth drivers, but I couldn't find a solution.
