I paired AirPods with my wifes iPhone and it changed their name and therefore reset my setting

I paired AirPods with my wifes iPhone and it changed their name and therefore reset my settings on my iPhone. Because when I now pair it with my iPhone, it acts as new AirPods. I can now see them under my devices, but still named after her, I'm able to play sounds on them.

Is this really an expected behavior? I have latest iOS, she has 17.

Is there a normal way to restore it back to have it my name and therefore have my settings back?

Following the instruction for resetting AirPods I've realized I've probably reset them while trying to connect to my wife's iPhone. So this explains that there wasn't a bug, just user error.

Also this means I lost the previous settings and I needed to recreate, which is quite understandable after a reset.

Off-topic: I have to say that I'm disappointed with the quality of sound. While connecting to Windows PC the quality is tragic. I bought them mainly for office/meetings purposes and even while connecting to iPhone I'm experiencing random disconnects, trouble connecting. The inability to control volume on non-pro AirPods is a cherry on top and another forced middle finger to customers. Ear buds that cost 200 euros, literally ten times the basic off brand, while having the quality 25% higher at best. I have also Cellular Apple Watch and I haven't yet found a clear way how to connect them to Watch and listen to Spotify Premium from the Watch. This Watch experience might be my inexperience yet, but still, 200 euros.
