MacOS: The App Store keep insisting to use an old AppleID that I haven't used in 5-10 years.

I am trying to update Xcode on my MacMini. But each time it is asking me to sign into the iTunes Store using an old AppleID I haven't used in 5-10 years. Ao In the box I change it to my current AppleID and the current password press 'download'. From there it goes into an infinite loop of asking me to sign into the iTunes Store with 2 choices: 1) cancel or 2) download. I hit download and that popup keep going and going.

Why is it insisting on using an old AppleID when I clearly typed in my current AppleID?

Why is it stuck in a loop like this?

Any help appreciated

MacMini 2018

MacOS: Sonoma 14.6.1

Thanks, Jim

Did you acquire Xcode using that old Apple ID? If so, that's why. Acquisitions made from the App Store are permanently tied to the Apple Account through which they are "purchased", and need to be logged into that account for updates. If you want to use another Apple Account now, you will almost certainly need to completely remove Xcode from your system and then re-acquire it using your current Apple Account.
