Why are my WhatsApp voice notes distorted in Carplay?

I had a Onenav radio installed in my car which is great but when I send voice notes through apple carplay it is very broken up or distorted. When I called the supplier they say its an issue with apple and they waiting for apple to do an update. Does anyone else have this issue or found a solution? I have the latest software update and latest whatsapp.
