Hello I've long been weary of installing any third party security related apps. My main thing is keeping the OS up to date. Could I Just ask some experienced community members whether Malwarebytes is still recommended?
The only reason MalwareBytes was ever recommended was because the Adware Removal Tool (and its developer) was bought up by MalwareBytes. The Adware Removal Tool only removed Adware. It didn't install any system modifications that altered the behavior of macOS. When originally released under MalwareBytes, it was only the Adware Removal Tool. They later turned it into the same crapware as the other anti-virus titles.
You don't need an Adware Removal tool, either. Just don't install the Adware in the first place.
