I created a new folder with "folder name" where "folder name" is the root. Now the new folder created is the root and the "folder name" folder is a subset. If I delete the new folder, the "folder name" folder is deleted.

I can’t quite understand your problem, but if you delete a folder, all contents will be deleted.
If you want to keep a subfolder, but delete the parent, move the subfolder out of the folder you want to delete.
