Life expectancy of Apple Watch

I've bought 2 Apple watches in the last 4 years. Both lasting at about 2 years. The first watch was a Series 6 and the battery just stopped working one day. I couldn't get it to turn on or charge. The second watch was a Series 8. One day the screen just popped off. I read some stuff and it seems the screen lifting may be due to the battery expanding. I'm not rough with the watches although I wear them all day, except to shower and sleep. Has anyone ran into this issue? How long have you had your watch for? I'm not sure if I want to buy another one even though I love how it integrates into the rest of my Apple products.

My first Apple Watch from 2015 is still in top notch shape.

My second from 2020 also

I just upgrade because that older watches don;t get software updates anymore but hardware wise they're still in top shape. I should guess that you just had bad luck

My Series 4 lasted 6 years. It was still working when I traded it in this Fall for a Series 10.

It was put on the charger every night, and I never tried to see how long I could make the battery last. Running a battery down to nothing is a fast way to destroy a Li-Ion battery.

I did not swim with it. I did not shower with it. I did not immerse my hands is dishwater.

I have a desk job, so I did not expose it to harsh environments or chemicals.

I did go for a walk or bike ride every day, weather permitting, and my Apple Watch tracked my workout.

I had a Series 7 from when it launched until the Watch 10 was released. The battery was down to about 85%.

Every other watch I've had (Original, series 2, series 4) was running just fine when I traded them in.

I agree with Nick. It sounds like very bad luck. Did you take the Series 6 to Apple for evaluation? If it was just the battery, it would have been about $100 to replace (U.S.) unless you had AppleCare+. Even your Series 8 might have been fixable.
