How can i view my contacts’ age in the birthday calendar?

The Apple calendar used to show the age of a contact next to their birthday on my birthday calendar on my iPhone. This has changed recently and now I can’t see anyone’s age next to their birthday in the calendar despite having their full DOB entered in their contact details. Is this something I can change back so that I can see the age of the birthday in my calendar again?

The age appears for me in the calendar generated from the birthdate entry in my Contacts app. This is the calendar activated when you select it in the list of calendars, and which is described in Set up multiple calendars on iPhone - Apple Support, and which also has this image:

As far as I know this function has not changed at all. Have you tried disabling the calendar and then enabling it again? This might force Calendar to re-read the birthdate data, although I admit it's optimistic to expect a different outcome.
