logic pro x recording issue

Logic pro x had been working great for years. Suddenly, while in the middle of a project, any recording track assigned Input 1 will record a spoken voice but almost no guitar. Maybe just a broken crackling sound that is very faint is recorded not matter how high I set the mic/gain. I've changed mics and cables without improvement. This happens whether I'm using any interface device including the FocusRite Scarlett 4i4, the Apollo Twin X thunderbolt, and even when using the built in Mac mic. Not an issue if I chose the track input to be input 2 or higher though

I'm replying to my own question as I contacted Apple support and they identified the problem quickly and I'm sharing this with the community in hopes that anyone else who runs into the problem will know how to fix it. I had inadvertently enabled a OS mic function called "Voice Isolation" which filters out all but spoken voice audio. Apparently voice isolation is helpful when using FaceTime to mute background noise but enabling it will affect all incoming audio including audio from an interface. The setting can be found in the orange mic icon at the top of the screen. Simply turning voice isolation off fixed the issue.
