spinning beach ball for some apps after upgrade 13.7.1 to 14.7.1

after a direct upgrade from 13.7.1 to 14.7.1, i get the spinning beach ball for opening and saving documents in some apps, namely microsoft office m365 (v16.90.2, latest) and bbedit (v15.1.2, latest, app store build). the phenomenon seems to root in some misconfiguration in privacy settings regarding files and folder access and full disk access. excel for instance asks for access granting to a file on the desktop despite having full disk access. bbedit just spinns the ball for 5-10 seconds before opening the target file.

am i alone?

raoul.

Hi,

no you are not. For me it was only updating from 14.7.0 to 14.7.1 but one of the disk related security updates seems to have broken something.

I always get a "this app needs access to this location" warning when opening files from the synced onedrive folder. So I don't know if it affects more than ms office apps because in my personal case it affects word, excel and ppt.
