iMessage going to my group as an SMS message.

I have a group message set up for friends who all have iPhones but since iOS 18, my message to them goes out as an SMS message and I only get them in their individual messages.. not in the group message.. we have disbanded this group and reset it up in the hope this might fix the problem but after less than a week, the same problem is back again….
