Unable to send and receive messages on MacBook Air

I have been able to send and receive messages on my Mac Air, but recently I have not been able to respond to messages, but I have been able to receive them. I am not sure what changed, but I get all the messages on my computer but once I go to respond the messages never deliver. Can someone help me please?
