Accessing old Iomega Prestige 1TB hard drive on iMac

This may be a non-question for someone more IT savvy. My old Prestige 1TB desktop hard drive has stuff on it from probably 8 or 9 years ago. Can I safely connect it to my IMac and brows its content / transfer across pics or other files I may want to keep?

Safely, probably yes. I can't think of anything likely to cause your iMac to have problems, not unless there's something seriously defective with the drive. Whether it will mount and have the data accessible is a different question, though if it was working in a Mac previously, it will probably work now assuming that it has a USB port not just FireWire or SCSI.

Regards.

Yes, you can do that safely. And with a drive that old, it is better to try this sooner rather than later. All drives eventually fail and older drives fail right before your eyes.

You will need to use a USB-A to USB-C adapter if yours is a newer iMac with no USB-A ports. Adapters are available everywhere for ~$10/pair. Check Amazon or google it.
