Help needed to set-up Seagate SSD external drive.

All going ok till I met the attached brick wall. What do I do next please?

I was setting it up by entering TM on my Mac and trying to add it. I only got to the screenshot I have attached.

The previous screen said: Disc usage limit. Then gave me 2 opions: None and Custom. Guessed both times but both took me to Couldn't unmount disc, so neither None or Custom worked/used.

Should I erase all the data to use my new device for TM machine backups only?

I can see the my new device in Disc Utility and it is mounted. Surely it needs to be mounted.

So confusing. Please advise.

PS. my imac is 2023 and used Sequoia.

I have fixed the issue myself; well by finding it on a good site - screenshot below. It took a few mins for Terminal to begin showing me the troublesome files. But once deleted all worked out well. It was an issue with Toolkit (part of the Seagate SSD One Touch HD) that would not close down. Only just bought the darned thing so it does not look good for the future.

Presumably the reason was that Toolkit would not unmount (I'm not even sure what this means, so for me to get it working is a miracle). Trouble is Toolkit keeps asking me to let it connect with my Mac. Toolkit was the problem in the first place, so not sure what I should do. One step at a time. PS, once toolkit was sorted/unmounted, then formating the ext drive for TM backups was easy enough.
