iMac can't connect to scanner

I have just purchased a refurbished 2017 iMac running Ventura 13.7. I bought a used Brother DSmobile 720D scanner for $50.

I've downloaded and re-installed the driver about 3 times, unplugged and re-plugged the scanner 4 or 5 times and restarted the iMac about 3 times also.

It shows up in the Finder, sometimes with the Brother name but sometimes it's "Untitled".

But in System Settings it can't be found.

Brother – DS720D Mobile Duplex Color Page Scanner

I followed the Support links from that page down to one for "Macintosh macOS 13 Ventura – Support". It said that "we don't have plans to release official drivers or software for your model on macOS 13."

They said that for scanning, you might be able to use Brother iPrint&Scan (an app on the Mac App Store).

How are you connecting the Brother 720D scanner to your Mac...?

I'm asking because your screenshot only shows a Wi-Fi Printer and not a scanner.

If you are connecting the scanners USB cable to a hub or dock, try connecting it directly to the iMac.

Then try the steps at > Set up a scanner to use with Mac - Apple Support

and > Scan images or documents using a scanner and your Mac - Apple Support

If those things do not help...? E-Mail, start a Chat or call Brother Support.
