email reminders keep popping up even though turned off in settings

I continue to get periodic reminders of my sent emails when I have such turned off in settings. This is annoying and bothersome as I then have to delete the ‘reminder’ and move on. anyone have a definitive way to shut this annoying ‘feature’ off for good?
