Can request individual iMac review to see if my internals can support latest ...

I feel as if my iMac can support at least the OS Ventura but I can't upgrade because of the year my machine was manufactured.

Here is the details of the machine:

4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB

Is this really not enough to run Ventura?

iMac 27″, macOS 12.7

Thanks. Yes, I figured as much. I wish though that it would be based on scanning the system. I have seen renewed iMacs with weaker processors and less ram but built in 2019. According to Apple the mentioned machine would be able to upgrade to Ventura. It is a shame that this stronger machine is held back because of the year.

May I ask of your opinion on my machine, do you think the specs I listed would run Ventura?

Apple doesn’t usually indicate which particular features are the limiting factor(s) for macOS upgrades.

The list of Mac systems supported with macOS 14 Sonoma does align with the list of Macs using T2 and later security, though.

The 2015-era Intel i7 4 Ghz quad-core benchmarks at 1357 single-core, and 4266 multi-core.

For comparison purposes, the oldest Apple silicon iMac 24” M1 (4P4E) at 3.2 GHz gets 2335, and 8280.

I would expect performance for the new M4 configurations to be much higher, too.

Opinion? Most of the Intel machines I’ve met tend to be relatively hot and comparatively slow.

If that iMac works for your needs, then run it. Run it into the ground too, if that is appropriate for your case.

Understood.

How much risk (in your opinion) if any am I facing if I stay on Monterey after support drops under following conditions:

Use Safari only for bill pay sites, that would be credit cards, utilities etc...

Use brave browser for any web searching and such

Use and keep up to date apps from App store (while the support for apps still goes on)

Any risk of my data such as passwords being at jeopardy? Thanks!
