Control Center does not show Hearing Assistant options

I am using the AirPods Pro 2 as a hearing aid. But one thing that is not working for me is getting the Control Center to show the Hearing Assistant options.

I contacted Apple Support and they suggesting unpairing the AirPods Pro 2, but said I'd have to take the hearing test again.

Is anyone else having problems getting the Control Center to work as Apple Hearing Aid documentation shows? For example, it says if I click on the "ear" control, I have access to the hearing aid adjustments. All I see is a list of background sounds.

On the Control Center, sometimes the volume control shows the AirPods logo and in that state if I click on it I get the sound and amplification controls. But most of the time what shows is the volume logo and all I can do is control the volume.
