my favorites on my MacBook air safari page

I have 37 favorites' icons. They had been in three spread out rows of 12 each with the 37th in a third row. Now they are in five rows with eight icons in each of four rows and the remaining three icons are in the fifth row. How do I get them back to being more spread out?
