New iMac or Mac Mini & Screen

I have a late 2015 iMac with 27" 5k Retina Screen, 3.2 quad core I5 processor, 1.02 TB Fusion Drive and 32GB Ram but now it is time to replace it as it has slowed right down and I can't upgrade the OS. My quandary is that I can only get a 24" iMac now so am wondering if I should forget about all in one and get a Mac Mini with screen etc. I am quite attracted to the idea of an ultra wide screen but still not sure if this would be the right way to go. I also have a 2023 MacBook Air and tbh, use that the majority of the time but still want have a full setup as not everything can be done on a laptop and it can get a bit tiring. So, whatever I buy will be a bit of an indulgence, I am not a gamer, just general use and like to play a bit with photography and home videos. This is likely to be the last machine I buy (at my age) so want to get it right. I am fairly technically minded as was a Computer Engineer for many years (windows.....ouch)before switching to Mac. I also run my Network with a Nas so storage is not critical but as it cant be upgraded would want something mid range on the machine I buy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated .Thank you.

The Mac mini and a 27" or 32" display is a good option.

My thinking is along the lines of rkaufmann87's: a Mac Mini, 24GB RAM, a 1TB drive and a 32" LG 4k monitor with built-in speakers. All for several hundred dollars less than a similarly configured 24" iMac.

Or if budget dictates and as WheelieNick mentioned, an external Monitor with your MBP (with the keyboard and mouse from your old iMac).
