problem with presenter notes in Keynote 14.2 and Sonoma 14.7.1

Dear users of Keynote,

I upgraded to Sonoma 14.7.1 on my 16-inch MacBook Pro with its Apple M1 Max chip last night, and when I gave a Keynote presentation with Keynote 14.2 this morning to 250 students I found that Keynote would no longer default to hiding the presenter notes when I projected the presentation, so that I

had to hide them and do without notes, which was not how I needed to

speak. I fouled up my lecture as a result. This is a very serious problem for me. Any suggestions?

The only online advice I could find pertained to Keynote 13.2, and to issues with saving files, which was remedied by deleting fonts. This, however, is clearly a different issue.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hard to say without more details, but by default, assuming you're working on a two-screen setup, the presenter notes are displayed on the primary display (e.g. built-in screen on a laptop) while the presentation is shown on the external display/projector/whatever.

Use System Settings -> Displays to control the displays (Click Arrange..., then drag the menu bar to the display you consider your 'Main' (e.g. the built-in display).

If/once that's set, use Play -> Customize Presenter Display in Keynote to configure what is visible on each screen.

If you don't have multiple displays, check Keynote -> Settings -> Slideshow and adjust the presenter display settings there to match your preferences.
